Investment Casting, or Lost Wax Investment Casting, is known as a
Lost Wax Process or as Precision Casting.

The term Investment Castings comes from the use of mobile ceramic slurries, or “investments,” to form molds with extremely smooth surfaces.

Our precision investment casting use with investment castings wax or plastic as molds to produce a finished product that has a better quality and appearance than other methods such as welded assemblies or sand castings.

All popular metal alloys can be poured into the Investment Casting Process. This gives your project the most versatile design flexibility and invariably, superior strength and wear-resistance. Therefore, the design freedom in the investment casting process is very high compared to die casting, forgings, machined components, brazed or welded assemblies, sand castings, and powered metal.

A benefit of the investment metal casting process, “Near Net-Shape,” reduces the amount of metal casting material waste and labor costs. The near-net shape objective provides engineers finished components, non-machined net shapes, or difficult-to-machine alloys with a direct and efficient route to the manufacturer. These alloys also provide unidirectional properties, material conservation, and are energy saving.

As-Cast Surface Finishes are Produced Using the Casting Process:

Alloy

We emphasize dimensional precision investment castings, surface finishes, exact material specifications, and part or full elimination of machining and finishing operations.

This process reduces scrap rate due to a higher-integrity, closer-to-tolerance parts, and promotes longer tool life in any machine operation due to a lower inclusion of minimal casting defects, design flexibility, or the ability to combine two parts into one casting. Tolerances of +/- 0.15 mm per every 25 mm is the standard.
